The big losers of Dota 2 patch 7.35 in pubs

A little over a week after the release of Dota 2 patch 7.35, we look at which heroes received the short end of the stick.

A new patch always stirs up the meta. Heroes shift everywhere in terms of preference and win rates. A few days ago, we looked at the biggest winners of the new meta evolving around Dota 2 patch 7.35. Here, we take a look at the biggest losers of the patch.

While looking at the winners, it makes sense to look at both, the heroes with the highest win rate as well as the major positive movers in win rate. But while we will look at the heroes with the lowest win rates here, the real losers are the ones which have dropped the most in terms of win rate since the release of patch 7.35.

There is a small case of balance patch 7.35b, which dropped about a week after the main patch. Stats have been shown since the release of patch 7.35 and patch 7.35b till now. All data is taken from STRATZ.

Biggest Decreases in Win Rate After the Release of Dota 2 Patch 7.35

The biggest loser in terms of win rate reduction is Slardar, and yet somehow, he is..a winner?! Slardar lost about 4.5% win rate after the release of Dota 2 patch 7.35, but he remains a high win rate hero, because his initial win rate was over 57%. While he has suffered, the Slithereen Guard is very much a viable hero in the current meta. Similar is the case with Spectre and Wraith King, who have been reigned in a bit, but continue to be decent picks.

Muerta on the other hand, is in a much dire place. She was a strong hero in the position 1 and position 4 role at TI12, and had an above average win rate. But that has now plummeted to below 48%, and we may see a it less of her in the next few weeks.

Chen’s case is a peculiar one. He was buffed in Dota 2 patch 7.35, but it wasn’t just a numbers buff. It came in the form of slight reworks to skills, and it might be a case of players getting used to the new set of skills.

If the changes to win rate after the release of Dota 2 patch 7.35b are considered, a bunch of heroes who weren’t changed come into the picture. Other than Leshrac, who was brought down a notch after the buffs to him in the main patch, none of the other four heroes were changed. But other heroes getting stronger is a factor that can reduce their win rates, which might be happening here.

Lowest Win Rates from Dota 2 Patch 7.35

Just for the heck of it, if the lowest win rate heroes in pubs are observed, it shows some heroes are really in the mud. The worst of the lot, which sadly includes Chen, are below a win rate of 45%. Batrider, even though he saw an increase of nearly 4% ever since the release of patch 7.35, is still languishing at a win rate of 42.4%. Pangolier deserves to be there, as he has enjoyed a good run for a long time. But the other heroes deserve buffs in the upcoming patches.

While some parity has been restored to pubs, there are a lot of heroes that need a few buffs to make them viable again. As the new year rolls in and professional Dota ramps up to full speed in the first few months, we are bound to get more balance patches that will uplift the heroes having a hard time right now. On a parting note, here are the 10 lowest win-rate heroes in pubs from the last week. Avoid them if you don’t want to lose MMR and enter the new year on a sour note!
